The Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance (CWHHA), is a network of 120+ healthcare professionals and patients that develop and disseminate evidence-informed strategies to transform clinical practice, impact public policy and enhance collaborative action on women’s cardiovascular health in Canada.
They hoping you can participate in a short survey about cardiovascular care programs and services available to women in Canada. The survey will help them develop an understanding of the current landscape of women’s heart health programs and services and to identify barriers to access women’s cardiac care across Canada to inform care and policy changes. Survey data will help inform future projects by the CWHHA with the ultimate goal of improving women’s cardiovascular health across the lifespan.

Cardioman will be stepping down as leader so the group needs to discuss how to govern in the future. So if you are interested in seeing the group continue and provide programming to new rehab grads in the future this would be an important meeting to attend.

This will be a combination meeting of live attendance at the Wellness Center and some joining by Zoom. Our guest presenter is Michael Ruiz an Exercise Therapist with the Central East Regional Cardiovascular Rehab program. Michael is not only an Exercise Therapist he is also a Type 2 diabetic. Michael is planning an interactive presentation with lot’s of discussion and questions throughout the meeting. We will all benefit from this discussion whether we are diabetic or not. Here are some of the topics that will be discussed.

Our guest presenter practices at the Kawartha Clinic specializing in geriatric medicine and total patient wellbeing. She will explore the relationship between heart healthy lifestyles and brain health. Dr. Sarah Brisbin is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with certification in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. She just recently joined the Kawartha clinic in January 2021 and will be assisting with Clinical Trials research, as well as providing Geriatric Medicine outpatient consultation. Dr. Brisbin also will be working with the inpatient Geriatric Medicine Consultation group at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, as well as throughout the area with the GAIN team program.
